Classic Turkey (or Beef) Chili, introduced by Katie [Gottron] in college!

 



1 # lean ground beef or turkey

2 garlic cloves, minced

2T Chili Powder

2 tsp. cumin

28oz. can crushed tomatoes

15 oz. can red kidney beans, rinsed/drained

1 sweet onion

1/4 c. canned diced chilies (or pamentos)

2T tomato paste


  1. Brown meat and garlic in nonstick skillet; drain off fat.
  2. Stir well with chili powder and cumin, until well coated.
  3. Mix in: tomatoes, beans, onion, chili's, and paste [in a slow cooker].
  4. Cover and cook 4-5 hours; or cook on stovetop.

Mom's Party Potatoes

Mom's Legion of Mary Field Trip September  2023!


10 Potatoes

8 oz Cream Cheese

1/2 C Sour Cream

Butter

Paprika

Salt


  1. Peel and halve potatoes
  2. Place in pan and add just enough water to cover
  3. Salt heavily 
  4. Boil on high and cover til steam rises from pan
  5. Turn to medium and boil 6-7 minutes
  6. Poke until soft. Drain.
  7. Add cream cheese and 1/3-1/2 c. sour cream; beat.
  8. Salt/pepper to taste.
  9. Place in casserole dish and  top w/ 6  cutst of butter;  sprinkle with paprika
  10. Bake @  350  degrees for 30 minutes.
